Vision

Grace Joyce House is a women's focused organisation. Our Vision is a world where domestic violence and abuse against women is not tolerated.

Mission

Our mission at Grace Joyce House is to provide women fleeing from domestic violence and abuse a safe and secure place to live.

We help the women to recover emotionally and to empower them. We also help the women to develop confidence, independence and to rebuild their lives free from abuse.

Aims

Our aim at Grace Joyce House is to encourage the women who reside at our refuge, to take control of their future and rebuild their lives. We offer a bespoke service tailored to the needs of each individual woman.

The Support we provide is emotional and practical, including counselling, advocacy, housing, accessing benefits, employment, education and health services.

We work closely with external agencies i.e. police, health officials, housing and legal representatives and a variety of stakeholders.

Values

At Grace Joyce House we are trauma informed and provide high quality tailored support. Service provision is a partnership between staff and survivors. We work from a non direct approach and understand each woman's circumstances and needs are different, and may require different services at different times. We help the women to identify these needs and ensure they are assisted in their decision making from the outset. This is a stepping stone to developing trust, as well as the foundation for empowerment. Survivors are supported in taking control of their lives. The first step is enabling survivors to choose how they access the support that is offered. Staff have a commitment to support women who reside at our place of safety. We want the best for the women and make sure their basic needs are met

We respect, encourage and empower the women to make formal and informal decisions. The choices made by women are supported and they are encouraged to develop a belief in themselves, building confidence, self-esteem and improving their health and wellbeing.

We are committed to the principles of equal opportunities and provide services that respect diversity. We welcome every woman without judgement. We apply anti-discriminatory practices in all aspect of our work to ensure that the women are supported to access services on an equal basis. We will actively challenge discrimination.

We recognise domestic violence and abuse as a contravention of human rights.
